The past year has been a journey of significant transitions and profound learning. The first half was consumed with meticulous preparation for a physical move from Bangalore to Pune. The second half was dedicated to navigating the emotional and mental adjustments that came with such a big shift. Despite all the planning, I quickly realized that no amount of preparation could ready me fully for the bittersweet goodbyes and the emotional waves that followed.
Sometimes, you simply have to go through the pain to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I grappled with the fear of losing connections I had nurtured over years and the anxiety of stepping out of my comfort zone. Post-relocation, I threw myself into activities that offered a sense of belonging and acceptance. One such highlight was participating in a fashion show, representing my new community. Walking the ramp was a thrilling experience that not only gave me a confidence boost but also helped me forge meaningful connections. Reconnecting with my Maharashtra swimming teammates at the Masters Nationals was another highlight. Competing successfully in the tournament validated my commitment to leading a disciplined life, balancing physical and mental health.
Another enriching addition to my life have been our visits to Serene Eco Village, a haven nestled amidst the hills, forts, and water bodies of the Sahyadris. From the very first week of moving to Pune, we became deeply involved in two initiatives: Serene Vanarai, a tree plantation project, and community vegetable farming. These weekend activities have become a source of immense joy and fulfillment while adding a much-needed breath of fresh air to our lives.
Between these enriching weekends, I also made it a point to visit Bangalore, reconnecting with the extended family I have built there. Celebrating Christmas at Monica’s home, supporting Dee at Soul Santhe, and sharing potlucks with friends reinforced the enduring strength of these bonds.
Through this period of change, my self-care practices have been my anchor, helping me find balance amidst the seeming chaos. Teaching and practicing yoga daily maintained my physical health, while Awakin Circles on Wednesdays nurtured my inner self, grounding me in compassion and love. Clean eating, journaling, reflecting, and therapy sessions with Monica provided much-needed clarity and resilience during these challenging times.
Professionally, I’ve been privileged to share my passion for vitality conservation through monthly talks at an NGO. This year also brought me into contact with many wonderful communities—the Satvic community, nature cure enthusiasts in Pune, and the medicine-free life community at Serene—all of which have enriched my sense of belonging.
Poshak Life’s collaboration with a health and wellness hub, In-There, marked a professional milestone. Offering our snacks there and hosting successful potlucks over the past six months have been rewarding. Participating in exhibitions and a PAN (Physicians Association for Nutrition) conference for doctors and nutritionists further broadened our reach and connections.
This year has also seen my evolution from a Whole Plant-Based Nutritionist to a Holistic Wellness Coach. This new role allows me to meet clients where they are, guiding them with compassion, experience, and wisdom.
On the yoga front, I’ve started conducting offline sessions in addition to my ongoing online classes. Learning from an Iyengar yoga teacher has deepened my practice and understanding of yoga.
Looking Ahead
For 2025, I’ve made three resolutions:
- Weekly water fasting until 4 PM every Monday.
- Daily meditation for 30 minutes.
- No refined sugar for an entire year.
I’m delighted that my better half has joined me in these commitments, providing additional motivation and support.
Guiding Keywords for the Year
- LOVE: Lead with love and heart, especially in moments of conflict.
- LEARN: Stay updated and well-equipped to reach and impact more people.
- FOCUS: Prioritize what truly matters by reducing distractions.
