1 cups cowpea, soaked overnight and boiled
4-5 garlic cloves
2 tbsp of walnuts
1 cup of basil leaves, plus extra for garnish
¼ cup of tahini
2 Tbsp of lemon juice
2 green chilly
1 tsp of cumin seed powder
Salt to taste

Tahini

  1. Soak 1/4 cup of unpolished sesame seed for 3-4 hours.
  2. Grind it to a fine paste. Our Tahini is ready.

Method :

1.First prepare basil sauce: mix basil leaves, garlic, tahini,chilly, walnut, cumin seed powder in a blender and blend until smooth paste .
2.Add the cowpeas and salt, and blend again until smooth.
3.Transfer to a bowl, and add the lemon juice. Mix well and check seasoning. Finish with a sprinkling of walnut powder and fresh basil leaves on top. Serve with pita bread.
