Last week, I had the privilege of attending Gauri akkas Dr. Gauri Rokkam‘s 3-day “Live Younger, Longer” workshop at her home in Bangalore. It turned out to be one of the most powerful and transformative experiences of my journey as a health and wellness coach.
At the beginning of my career, I had the fortune of interning under Gauri akka, where I first started delving deep into the world of health and nutrition. Since then, my path has taken me through a wide range of philosophies — Nature Cure, whole plant-based diets, high-raw approaches, disease-reversal diets, nutrition for athletes, fruitarian diets, and many more.
After relocating to Pune last year, I noticed a significant gap in the awareness, exposure, and acceptance of Nature Cure principles and whole plant-based nutrition among the people around me. This created a strong urge within me to reconnect with my core beliefs, goals, and my deeper purpose — and so, I found myself returning to my mentor and guide, Dr. Gauri Rokkam
I am deeply grateful that this workshop gave me everything I was seeking — and so much more.
Over the three days, she shared with such sincerity and depth about the three pillars of holistic health: Āhāra (food), Vihāra (lifestyle), and Vichāra (thoughts) — all in her beautifully simple and relatable way. My faith was strongly reinstated in the idea that nutrition is no rocket science; it begins right in our kitchens with the ingredients easily available to us.
One of the most powerful takeaways for me was the reminder: How much does your mind listen to you? — highlighting the critical role of Vichāra (thoughts) in our overall well-being.
What touched my heart the most was not just the wisdom she shared but her willingness to open her own kitchen to us. For three days, she patiently taught us everything from scratch — not just theories, but everyday practical skills that truly empower.
I picked up so many invaluable nuggets: from how to wash grains without losing their precious B vitamins, how to wash vegetables properly, how to cook rice using a steel vessel in an electric rice cooker, to how to select the most tender vegetables that even family members would naturally love.
This experience has rekindled my commitment to live, share, and support health from the roots — with simplicity, joy, and heart.
If you truly wish to understand what real nutrition means, I can’t recommend Dr. Gauri Rokkam‘s workshop enough — learning from her is a rare and invaluable experience.
Cheers!
