Maan,  a 10-year-old boy from Mumbai attended the Dejunk-kids program during the summer vacation.

We really appreciate his active participation and enthusiasm with which he participated in the program! We wish him all the best in all his cooking experiments. 🙂

Here is what he has to say in his own words!

My experience with De-Junk Program for Kids

We always worry about our weight so, we plan not to eat junk food but many times we are tempted to eat.

Well, it also happens with me so I planned to do this course called De- Junk program for kids which really helped me maintain a healthy diet. Do you think de-junk means to stop eating junk food? Well, not for me?

For me, de-junk means eating junk food in a healthier way. It was the first time I was doing such a thing.

First I thought it would be weird but it turned out pretty good. The course was of one week. The first class was the introductory class in which we had to introduce ourselves. Later in the class, they told us what all we were going to do in the further classes. They told us we would remove refined sugar, salt, oil, maida, etc. They also told us we were only going to use fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, and seeds, all in the whole form.

In this course, children have to make the food so if you want to be a chef or something this will really help you.

Our first topic was making cutlets and fries. It sounded really interesting. We had to make potato wedges and hara bhara cutlet / kabab. We also made some cashew cream cheese. Our next topic was making pizza and pasta. We made whole wheat roasted veggies pizza. We also made a chocolate milkshake, Dahi vada without dairy curd and ragada patties and peanut curd.

It was a wonderful experience and also my first contribution to cooking and I am also really proud of myself.

THANK YOU
