No-fuss travelling on a plant-based diet!
I remember my first trip to Wayanad after switching to a whole plant-based diet with the family members and friends a decade ago.
I had planned everything to the T and was also carrying a smoothie maker and a long list of things for myself.
Prepping for my meals or finding the plant-based friendly restaurants somehow became the highlight of the trip!
And as a result it was not a very fruitful experience for everyone around.
I started realizing that food choice is very personal and constantly discussing it may take the focus
away from the time you want to spend with your family and friends on a vacation.
With experience, awareness I am in a position to travel anywhere without even mentioning my food choices to anyone around unless asked.
Nowadays what I pack for my weekend getaway trips or even longer vacations fits in a small backpack. Travelling has become no-fuss and simple!
Over the years I have realised that anywhere you go, you get abundant fruits and vegetables. Carrying a knife, a peeler and a cutting board is more than enough to
fix the two most important meals of the day – a fruit meal and a veggie meal. Some dates, roasted chana, peanuts, and some dried fruits ensure I get to make tasty salads with the available veggies and enjoy my fruit meals too. Tender coconut malai and water come to rescue every time.
Once I take care of these two meals, for the third meal I am free to explore local cuisine and even indulge without missing out on my favorite food!
There is no dearth of plant-based readymade options for the third meal as well! Idli, dosa, dal-rice, chapati-sabji, soups and salads the list goes on and on.
If you take care of the steps, 3 P’s – Plan, Procure and Prepare travelling becomes super easy and fun!
