Psychodrama group workshop | Poshak Life

On 10 Feb, Saturday, a group of 11 people got together to experience psychodrama. This was my first in-person group session and I couldn’t be happier about getting started.

The workshop was titled “From Strengths to Possibilities.” But before we got into that, the group had to warm up – for participants to access their spontaneity with ease, connect with others in the group, and feel the harmony of shared values and experiences. This was done through movement-based exercises, spontaneous prompting and sharing, spontaneous play and spectrograms.

The group was then divided into pairs and asked to share their experience of good times and help each other identify their strengths. Using props, they created a stage on the floor and positioned themselves, their strength, difficulty and goal on it.

Through role reversals, participants explored these abstract elements concretely, conversing with each player on the stage. What was a jumble in the head and heart came out through the process, giving participants clarity about their issue.

This enactment also fed the innate “act hunger” we are all born with. Reconnecting to that, allowing the imagination and intuition to bypass the intellectual boundaries in itself is a liberating process.

We ended with a spontaneous dance.

I experienced a deep joy and connection with the group. The collective energy of groups always lifts me, expanding my spontaneity and creativity, and feeding my soul.

We plan to have such in-person group sessions every month and we invite anyone who is seeking a space of acceptance, openness, honesty, and self-inquiry to join. Let’s all grow together!

If you’re in Bangalore, do join! We’ll announce the date soon. Follow us on social media for updates or call/WhatsApp +91 96326 76341 or +91 90198 11807.
