We all have a fixed amount of vital force/energy (vitality) that we are born with.

Every action that we take at physical, physiological and mental level engages a certain amount of vitality.

Experiencing health is also understood as working on continuous consistent conservation of this vitality.

I am back from the masters national competitions that happened in Mangalore last week.

While going through the training for it and while witnessing various other swimmers along the way I was trying  to understand how it’s affecting my vital economy.

Here are my observations-

At physical level –

Instead of slogging in the swimming pool for hours, that I used to do in my childhood, understanding what’s my weakness and allotting time to work on that can save vitality at physical level.

Swimming technique is my strength. So apart from regular daily yoga practice ( where I use my body weight to help build the strength in my muscles and stretching to make sure there are no injuries during the workout), 10 days of focussed 45 mins swimming sessions over the span of one month before the competition worked out well.

At physiological level –

Sticking to a simple nature-synched diet like one fresh fruit meal, one veggie salad meal and one balanced cooked meal made me feel light and strong throughout the practice sessions and also during the competition.

Getting obsessed with one single macro like protein or fat can drain our vitality in digesting this difficult to digest foods.

Instead going for SMART nutrition, not more or not less, just enough for my body to perform like a well oiled machine helped me save my vitality at physiological level.

I also enjoyed the nutritious snacks packed by Deepali during the trip 🙂

At mental level-

Worrying about the results to come and getting stressed about it has been my pattern since ages. This time I took Monica’s help to understand the root cause of this stress and how

instead I can focus on what  is in my control, and that is my performance made this process really enjoyable!
