Baked Thalipeeth

Thalipeeth is a spiced flatbread made from multigrain flour. Thalipeeth makes for a healthy, tasty, and nutritious lunch or breakfast. You can even pack them in a lunch box. This thalipeeth recipe is made of millet flour, sprouts and loaded with veggies. It’s accompanied with peanut curd with charred chilly.

In Maharashtrian homes, thalipeeth bhajani is made in large amounts and stored, which is then later used to make thalipeeth.

 

Ingredients:

  • 1  cup Any Millet Flour (Ragi,jowar, Bajara)
  • 1/2 cup Sprouted Moong/sprouted brown channa
  • 1/4 cup Rice Flour or Soaked red poha
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp roasted sesame seeds
  • 3 tbsp roasted groundnut powder(optional)
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped Onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped palak or dill leaves
  • 1/4 cup finely grated carrot
  • Salt to taste
  • Garlic-Green chili paste
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves
  • Water 

Method:

  • In a big thali. Add Millet flour.
  • Grind Sprouted moong roughly
  • Wash red poha and soak it for just 5 minutes. 
  • Add red poha or rice flour, ground sprouted moong, to millet flour 
  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin seeds, onion, greens, carrot, salt,  garlic-green chili paste, coriander leaves, sesame seed powder, and groundnut powder(optional)

  and mix everything well together.

  • Add a little water at a time and knead the dough.

  consistency. 

  • Dip your hand in the water and spread thalipeeth. 
  • When thalipeeth is rolled, make it even with the help of your palm. 
  • Make some holes on the thalipeeth. 
  • Heat well-seasoned iron tava on medium heat. 
  • Transfer the thalipeeth to tava. Cover and cook it on one side till done.
  • Flip to another side. Do not cover. Cook till done.
  • You can also bake these thalipeeth in the oven at 180 C for around 25 minutes (Approx. 12 min on each side)

Ingredients

Peanut curd  with charred chilly

1 cup of fresh peanut curd

1 green/red chilly

salt to taste ( black rock salt or pink rock salt)

Method:

  1. Char the chilly of gas flame for few minutes till it blackens
  2. Crush it with help of mortar and pestle
  3. Add to one cup of peanut curd. Add salt.
