Veggie cheese balls

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup red poha (flattened rice)

1 cup boiled & grated potatoes

1/2 tsp red chilli powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp oregano  

1/2 tsp mixed herbs

1/4 cup of mixed bell peppers

1/4 cup of finely chopped onion

1/4 cup of homemade cheese

Rocks salt to taste

 

Homemade cheese

1/4 cup soaked cashews (soake for 4 hrs.)

3 pods of garlic

1/8 tsp of turmeric powder

1/4 tsp nutritional yeast

1 whole lemon juice

1/2 boiled medium potato

Rock salt to taste

 

Method

  1. Grind cashew, garlic, turmeric powder, nutritional yeast and potato.
  2. Now transfer to a bowl and add lemon juice and rock salt.
  3. Mix well. Our quick home made cheese is ready.

 

METHOD:

  1. Wash the poha well .
  2. Keep aside for 3-5 minutes
  3. In a separate bowl, take boiled & grated potatoes, salt to taste, red chilli powder, turmeric, oregano, mixed italian herbs, chopped bell peppers, chopped onion, rock salt and washed red poha.
  4. Mix well & mash potatoes & red poha. Outside layer mixture is ready.
  5. Take a lemon size ball mixture & flatten it out slightly.
  6. In the centre add 1/4 tsp of home made cheese.
  7. Pull the edges & make it into a ball again.
  8. You can bake these balls in an oven at 180 degrees for 35 minutes.
  9. You can also cook these balls in appe patra. Grease the appe patra with little oil. Clean the excess oil with cloth. Let the pan heat well on medium heat.
  10. Place the ball in appe patra and let it cook for 10 minutes .’
  11. Once they are done on one side flip them and rotate and cook for next 15 minutes till the outer layer becomes crisp.
  12. Serve these balls with tomato sauce or mint chutney.
