5-Day #NoSugar Challenge

Small changes. Big rewards.
Many of us believe we don’t eat much sugar when we’re not consuming it directly and avoiding sweets. However, refined sugar quietly enters our day through biscuits, iced teas and herbal teas, breakfast cereals, bread, ketchup, packaged juices, even sugar-free sweets and similar healthy snacks. Without our knowledge, our body has handled more sugar than what’s obvious!
This 5-day No Sugar Challenge is a chance to notice this hidden sugar and experience the difference for yourself.
Excessive sugar consumption can lead to a range of negative health consequences, including weight gain, increased risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease, and potential links to depression, fatty liver disease, and even cognitive decline. Added refined sugars, in particular, are a major concern as they contribute to these issues without providing significant nutritional value.
Table sugar, High Fructose Corn Syrup, and other forms of processed sugars provide fructose, which in excess has detrimental effects on:
- brain (neurostimulant, addictive behaviour),
- liver (fatty liver, inflammation, uric acid generation),
- kidney (renal vasoconstriction, inflammation),
- vasculature (inflammation, endothelial dysfunction), and
- adipocyte (oxidative stress, inflammation).
Even when we know the dangers, it’s still not easy to stop! Refined sugars are too easily available, rampantly hidden in processed foods, and part of all celebrations … saying No can mean saying No to a lot of what you love!
That’s why community helps. It’s easier to do difficult things through fun group challenges!
